Busy times for us these days! Our July residency at Long Wong’s was more fun than we could have imagined. From playing with some of our favorite bands in town, to bar-top dance-parties, we were blown away by the support we had locally. Thanks to all of you for making it out, and for so many high-energy shows!
We also hit 1,000 likes on Facebook - we don’t really know what that means, except that you have been sharing our songs/videos with your friends, and that makes us feel really niiiiice.
Currently we’re working on paying YOU back with NEW stuff - NEW songs, a NEW single (getting back into the studio October 7th to record), and NEW T-shirts (due to popular demand). Both the single and T-shirts will all be available this fall, and we hope to see you out and would love to hear what you think about them.
Suffice to say, we’re humbled by your support, as always, and we really hope to bring you some great events, songs, T-shirts in the months ahead. Come see us with our good friends Prague Friday the 21st at Rogue, as we support them in the release of their first album! If you haven’t noticed, the PHX music scene is alive and amazing, and we are so happy to be a part of it.
Cheers!

March was an intense month. Played a ton of great shows, our album Together dropped, we rocked out at SXSW, Bryan survived laryngitis, we partied at Crescent Ballroom with our good pals Ladylike for an epic dual CD release show, and all around have been having a really great time. Phew! We’re back to the grind and working on new material in addition to pushing the record. We’ve got a bunch of great shows coming up so hope to see everyone soon.

Been really busy this week! Promotion for Together is in full swing. We just got news that it debuted last week in the CMJ Top 200! We couldn’t be happier. Special thanks goes out to Dan Sommers who’s been busting his butt getting the word out. We’ve got some great shows coming up and our videos are set to release in a few days. A lot of exciting things our happening. We also did a quick interview with The New Times about everything that’s been going on. Take a look!

A lot has been happening in the past month. We’ve finished our LP and are busy working on the final touches: cover art, packaging, distribution and the like. A few weeks ago we also finished shooting for our music video with Tyler and Nathanial of Hoisted Sail Productions. The shoot was awesome! We filmed it inside a shipping container and although it was ridiculously hot it was well worth it and we all think the final product will be amazing! We’ll let you all know when we’re getting ready to release it. We’ve also added a few awesome shows including a long overdue return to the epic Yucca Tap Room. We also posted a vid from a few months back of us playing at the Peachcake EP release party. Check it out!

It's been a while since we've updated the blog. And for very good reason, too. We've been busy. Our good friends Nick and Nicole (formerly of Babaluca) were married in July, and had a wonderful ceremony in San Diego. They were nice enough to get most of the former Underwater Getdown crew back together and play some Babaluca songs for their guests with the bride and groom. I regret that I wasn't able to be there. I was traveling in Spain on a cross-country bike ride. Definitely a once-in-a-lifetime adventure for me, but I'm happy to be back. It felt like I got to live someone else's life for a few weeks, but it reminded me of how grateful I am for my own.
It was the longest period I've ever gone without playing music. And I still can't think of a way to describe plugging my guitar in and playing with Factories for the first time once I got back. We had a few practices, and then played a pool party at the Lexington Hotel with The Cold Desert and Snake! Snake! Snakes! It ended up being one of the most fun shows I've ever played. It was so great to reunite with Snake! Snake! Snakes! again. I feel like I last saw them in a former life of mine with UWGD, and when I watched them perform while I was dripping wet in a bathing suit, holding a PBR I remembered why I love music in Phoenix so much. You aren't going to go to some random bar down the street and have a totally awesome music venue set up with a sound guy and hundreds of people cheering. You have to pay attention and find out where good music is. And it's hard. It's like learning the best places to eat in town. You don't settle for what's easy, you find something authentic.
Snake! Snake! Snakes! was authentic, and I was so happy to enjoy my beer, their music, and the crowd watching them in a conference room at the hotel. I could go on and on about them, but suffice to say, I have a clear and obvious band-crush, and I admire their songwriting and performance. This next show we play with Peachcake (who always seems to harness a permanent chaos in their live shows) and Snake! Snake! Snakes! is one that I am so excited to play on so many different levels. On one level I can't wait to share the stage and be part of the entertainment with talents I truly respect and admire. On the other, I can't wait to have a beer and be a concert-goer and enjoy a Saturday night with a lineup so strong.

So sometimes things happen really slowly, and sometimes they happen all at once. This is one of those periods where everything happens all at once. We get to hear the first mix of our full-length record, we’ve been asked to write the theme to the online show “Gym Shorts,” as well as a TON of amazing shows coming up. We are opening for Gardens and Villa, Fort Wilson Riot, Crystal Stilts, Peackcake and An Horse all in the next 30 days! We couldn’t be happier, or more grateful. And to boot, we’re still writing new songs (which are undeniably awesome).
Momentum is one of those intangible feelings that make everything else around it more amazing. We feel unstoppable, impenetrable, impregnable, and insurmountable (to quote Mike Tyson). But most importantly, it’s so much fun. We can’t wait to rawk your faces off, and we hope to see you at a few of the upcoming shows. Please check our calendar for the specifics! >>>

Finito! We finished tracking on our first full-length record
yesterday! We’re all totally excited about it, and I can’t wait for you to hear it. It was a daunting project, but thanks to Duff’s mad-scientist approach to beats and everything electronic, Audra’s ability to harmonize with anything on command, and my great looks we got through it in 5 full days, and feel great about it. Audioconfusion studios is like a second home to us, and Jalipaz makes us feel totally comfortable and is so awesome to work with.
Mixing will likely take a few weeks, and with a month until our next show, we turn to the visual side of band stuff. We have meetings this week to discuss a series of music videos, and hopefully you’ll start seeing some orange dot Factories stickers around town. If you come to a show, you might find one on your body somewhere (sorry in advance). I really can’t wait for you to hear the record. Cheers!

P.S. thanks to everyone who came out to the Rogue on Friday!

Stickers!
Austin got tagged and the trip to SXSW was a success! The big operation this year for us was our stickers, and we are proud to say that Austin is now covered in our orange dot stickers. We especially had fun secretly putting stickers on people – butts, backpacks, hats, even crotches. Most were tagged when they weren’t suspecting it whatsoever. We were mostly covert (we think) but if you were “tagged” by us, drop us a line! We’d love to hear your story!
From here we move pretty fast – a show this Friday March 25th with Bear Crossing at the Rogue and then it’s back to the studio this weekend to finish our full-length LP. More shows to follow and more work to do! See you all out there!!

Been a while since we said hello. Getting ready to leave for SXSW tomorrow!!! Unfortunately we will only be spectating this year but we’re all very excited to see some great music. No doubt it’ll be just as fun as last time. Once we get back we’ll be wrapping up recording for our new LP. So far things are sounding pretty epic. Can’t wait to show it to everyone. We’ve got a couple shows lined up and a few more in the works. See you soon!
